Two Great Vault Coaches Enjoy Doctoberfest

Two of Kansas' best high school pole-vaulting coaches, Thane Nonamaker of Gardner Edgerton (shown at right), and Denis Fraizer of Bishop Carroll High School, enjoy the festivities at Doctoberfest held Oct 6. in Jamestown, Kansas. Thane has coached several great pole-vaulters, including state champion  Casey Bowen, now vaulting at Kansas University. And Denis also has coached many excellent vaulters, including Nick Meyer, a senior at Carroll and defending Class 5A champion, who broke the Tailwind Pole Vault prep building record at Doctoberfest with a short-approach vault of 16-2. The impact these two men have had on the sport of pole-vaulting in the Sunflower State cannot be measured in feet and inches.  From beginner to preps, the sport is rising ever-higher in Kansas because of the expertise and influence of these two men.
