'Maggie' Gets 5 More Stars!
Thanks to Shannon Clark of I Run Read Teach for an Awesome Review:
You know that saying -- "Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, it applies to this book. Most definitely! Grant Overstake, the author, contacted me about reading his book and reviewing it on my blog. I am so glad I did. It’s a young adult book that’s appropriate for young adults as well as 4th and up. When do you ever find a young adult book like that? Some words that would best describe it would be- PURE, WHOLESOME, GENUINE -those can also describe Maggie, the main character. Not an inappropriate word throughout the entire book. No inappropriate content either. I mean that’s a hard find in today’s world! It's one of the most pure and wholesome young adult books I’ve ever read.Maggie has to endure a tragic event in her life and does a swell job. At one point I started wondering if Maggie was too good to be true-maybe a goody two shoes and not realistic. However, she still had a few “teenage” moments-they were just watered down from what you normally read about. The tragic event she has to go through will grab at your heart and tug and tug throughout the book.I LOVED the farming life in the book as well as the track and field aspect. But what I really loved was the “character” of Maggie. She has a lot of it. It was one of those books that left me with a good feeling even though I did shed a few tears while reading it.5 out of 5 starsI was not paid for this book review. All opinions are my own.To read more about this book and all of its inspiration visit Maggie Vaults Over The Moon. A must read!
