'Voice of Masters Track and Field' Recommends 'Marvelous Maggie' for Veteran Athletes, too
The Voice of Masters Track and Field has spoken, and Ken Stone says...
Maggie Vaults Over the Moon is a "marvelous" and "vivid" story that will rekindle "the youthful joy" of achievement for all athletes, from nine to 99 years-young.
In a glowing review posted on Masterstrack.com, Stone, a living legend in the world of senior athletics, admits to "getting a little teary-eyed at times" while reading the story of Maggie Steele, the gutsy Kansas farm girl who overcomes tragedy and soars to new heights as a storybook pole-vaulter."I was impressed," Stone writes. "Mostly for how [author Grant Overstake] got into the mind of a Kansas farm girl. But especially his eye for detail. Grant vividly describes track meets and vaulting."While Maggie is technically a young adult novel, Stone adds, "I could see this book being popular with masters athletes as well."
In fact, Stone was in the process of reading Maggie Vaults Over the Moon during the recent USATF Masters National Track and Field Championships, in which he competed as an athlete and wrote about for his international readership. While watching the seemingly ageless athletes thrilling to their best efforts in the runs, jumps and throws, it seemed to him as if they, too, were infused by the "spirit of Maggie Steele."
As a masters track and field athlete himself, the author was thrilled with Stone's enthusiastic review, titled, Overstake's 'Maggie' is meant for kids, but speaks to masters. "It is no exaggeration to say that Ken Stone is The Voice of master's track and field," Overstake said. "There are more than 50,000 masters athletes, aged 35 and over, worldwide. It's great to have Maggie introduced to this wonderful group by someone with Ken's stature in the sport."
Maggie Vaults Over the Moon is now available in paperback or eBook and can be purchased through Amazon.com in the United States, Canada, China, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy. Maggie also is available at Australia’s premier online bookseller, Angus & Robertson, and at hundreds of local independent US booksellers near you.
Spoiler Alert! Mr. Stone's wonderful review reveals significant plot details about Maggie Vaults Over the Moon.
