'Maggie' Shines at Kansas Board of Education

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 12, 2013) -- Maggie Steele, the gutsy farm girl from Grain Valley, shared the limelight at the Kansas State Board of Education meeting when Gary Musselman, Executive Director of the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA), recognized Maggie Vaults Over the Moon during his annual report to the board.Maggie Vaults Over the Moon is the story of a courageous teen who finds the strength to overcome tragedy and rise to new heights as a pole-vaulter. The young adult novel, suitable for 4th graders and up, has been endorsed by US Olympians, coaches, counselors, and many others — including KSHSAA — who recommend the book’s inspiring message for young people.
